Our Strength Program for Athletes
Champions Sports Performance is one of the top youth athletic training facilities in the country because we dedicate ourselves to the Parisi Speed School mission, and because our Athletic and Youth Strength Training Program is far more advanced than any other program.
Read our article below for more details, but simply put, strength training is critical to the short-term and long-term physical development of every child, and needs to begin at a very young age. Parents, think about this: When your three-year-old asks if he or she can help carry the groceries into the house and carries a three-pound bag in each hand up the stairs to the kitchen…that is strength training! The myth that it is not safe to strength train until after puberty is scientifically and completely false. You must start young, and critically focus on the years during puberty. Post-puberty is too late!
Any youth strength training program must be executed safely and by professionals. Champions’ staff members are all certified by USAW, the governing body for Olympic Weightlifting in the United States. They are also certified to offer the Parisi Speed School program as well as TFW.
The foundation of our program is the Olympic lifts, the Clean and the Snatch. All of our workouts are designed to generate power through the hip, and focus on ankle, knee, and hip extension to increase force production. Force production is the key to explosive movement. We develop muscle where you can’t see it, in the posterior chain, from the back of the neck, down to the heels. This is where speed comes from.
In our Jump Start Program for 7 to 11-year-olds, we develop basic movement patterns primarily through bodyweight strength training. In our Total Performance Program for 12 to 15-year-olds, we begin the progression through the Olympic Lifts. In our PEAK Program for serious high school and college athletes, we take the lifts to another level and start to load the bar once the athletes are ready.
